NOUN PHRASES
The definition Noun Phrase is:
- A word group with a noun or pronoun as its head. The noun head can be accompanied by modifiers, determiners (such as the, a, her), and/or complements. A noun phrase (often abbreviated as NP) most commonly functions as a subject, object, or complement.
- Either a single noun or pronoun or a group of words containing a noun or a pronoun that function together as a noun or pronoun, as the subject or object of a verb.
The Form of Noun Phrase are:
1. Determiners- articles (the, a);- demonstratives (this, that);- numerals (two, five, etc.);- possessives (my, their, etc.); and- quantifiers (some, many, etc.).
2. Adjectives (Sifat)- The red ball- You are beautiful
3. Compliments (Tambahan atau pelengkap)- The student of physics. (Prepositional phrase)- The claim that the earth is round. (That-clause)
4. Modifiers- The university student. (Nouns)- The beautiful lady. (Adjectives)- The man with long hair. (Prepositional phrase)- The house where I live. (Relative clause)

Kinds of Noun Phrases:
a) Noun + Noun. Example: Office boy, etc…b) Verb + Noun. Example: Take a bath, Take a bow, etc…c) Gerund + Noun. Example: Throwing ball, Swimming pool, Incoming calls, etc…d) Pronoun + Noun. Example: My book, My love, My heart will go on, etc..e) Adjective + Noun. Example: Black board, beautiful girl, bad day, nice day, etc…f) Determiner + Noun. Example: A pen, etc…
